“I spend long hours in front of a computer, so I always keep these eye drops with me. The formula feels very soothing, and they quickly help relieve the dryness and discomfort I get after staring at a screen all day.”
“Moisture Oyster checks several important boxes for me: a protected multidose bottle, easy dispensing, immediate comfort, and no blurry vision after instillation. It made a great first impression.”

HOW WE COMPARE
| FEATURE |
|
TYPICAL OTC DROPS |
|---|---|---|
| Preservative-free | Preservative-free via the Aptar OSD (Ophthalmic Squeeze Dispenser); one-way-valve technology prevents contamination without chemical preservatives. FDA-cleared. | |
| DUAL HYDRATION AGENTS | Triple-action hydration: Glycerin (immediate lubrication) + Sodium Hyaluronate (sustained mucomimetic film) + L-Carnitine (osmoprotection). | Most OTC drops contain a single lubricating agent, typically carboxymethylcellulose or polyethylene glycol. |
| L-Carnitine Cell Support | ||
| pH Matched to Natural Tears | Many OTC drops are not pH-optimised to natural tear chemistry (~7.4–7.5), which can cause transient stinging on application. | |
| Won't Blur Vision | Commonly contains HPMC, carbomer, or CMC — viscosity-enhancing agents associated with post-application blur. | |
| Designed for Daily Use | Formulated with benzalkonium chloride (BAK) or other preservatives that limit safe daily frequency with prolonged use. | |
| Made for Digital-Age Eyes | General-purpose formula — not engineered for the hyperosmolar, low-blink-rate environment created by extended screen use. |
WHAT'S INSIDE
No BAK
Found in many OTC drops, BAK is associated with corneal toxicity with repeated daily use. Moisture Oyster is BAK-free.
No Preservatives
Preservative-free multi-dose bottle via the Aptar OSD- a one-way valve that prevents bacterial contamination without chemical preservatives.
No Artificial Thickeners
No HPMC or carbomer thickeners that cause post-application blur.
No Artificial Colorants
Clear, pure formula.
THE SCIENCE
Disclosed, clinically meaningful concentration for a stable ocular film.
Osmoprotectant that helps corneal cells tolerate hyperosmolar (dry-eye) stress.
Isotonic, matched to healthy human tears.
Buffered to physiologic tear pH — no sting.
INDEPENDENT GLP TESTING
Tissue viability at 5 / 16 / 120-minute exposures, far above the 50% irritation threshold.
| Exposure | Tissue viability |
|---|---|
| 5 MINEXPOSURE | 97.6% |
| 16 MINEXPOSURE | 93.8% |
| 120 MINEXPOSURE | 96.2% |

No UN GHS Eye Irritation CategoryVIDEO REVIEW
As an eye doctor, the first thing I noticed was the bottle design. The one-way valve helps protect the solution from contamination, the drop dispenses easily, it feels great on the eye, and it doesn't blur vision. That's exactly what I want to see.

“From the first time I used Moisture Oyster, my eyes felt so much better. I’d been relying on Lumify for a long time because my eyes were always red, but after using these drops, I found myself reaching for Lumify less and less. I also love that they don’t sting or burn like Systane does for me. I had tried BioTears before, but it just didn’t feel as moisturizing. These are honestly the best eye drops I’ve used.”

“The other night I was watching TV really late, and my eyes started stinging. Like I always do, I reached for my boyfriend’s contact lens solution (odd, I know but it’s just saline!) but I kept putting it in my eyes and it really wasn’t helping. Then I remembered I had Moisture Oyster on my desk, and after just one drop, my eyes felt so much better. I haven’t reached for the contact solution since. Don’t judge me!”
It is not a rewetting drop, so don't apply it while wearing your contact lenses. Otherwise, yes. Use it before inserting your lenses and after removing them.
Our bottle uses the Aptar OSD (Ophthalmic Squeeze Dispenser). A one-way valve system that keeps every drop sterile without chemical preservatives, roughly 200 drops per bottle.
